Synopsis
Kesenian Ta'Butaan merupakan kesenian tertua dan asli dari Kabupaten Jember. Kesenian ini dipercaya oleh masyarakat Jember berasal dari Desa Kamal, Kecamatan Arjasa. Untuk menghindari terjadinya paceklik di masa mendatang, warga menciptakan sepasang boneka sebagai sosok simbolis dalam ritual bersih desa setelah panen raya. Boneka ini kemudian dikenal dengan sebutan Tabutaan.
Ta'Butaan is the oldest and most authentic traditional art from the Jember Regency. It is believed by the people of Jember to have originated in Kamal Village, Arjasa District. To prevent famine in the future, villagers created a pair of dolls, later known as Tabutaan, as symbolic figures in the village cleansing ritual after the harvest season
