Synopsis

Taber Gunung is an annual ritual of old tribes in Bangka Island, such as the Jerieng Tribe. The ritual, which means “to purify,” is performed as a form of gratitude towards nature's bounty. It consists of several stages, including a gong bath, taboh dance, and it culminates at Penyabung Hill, a sacred place of the Jerieng Tribe. After a brief hiatus, the ritual has been reinvigorated to overcome crop failure and disease issues.
