About the Conference Proceedings Series
Description
The International Forum on Spice Route (IFSR) Conference Proceedings Series is an open-access academic publication platform that publishes selected scholarly works presented at the International Forum on Spice Route. The series serves as a formal record of conference-based knowledge production and supports the dissemination of multidisciplinary research on spice routes, maritime heritage, cultural exchange, migration, ethnobotany, sustainability, innovation, creative practices, and maritime societies.
The International Forum on Spice Route is a multidisciplinary forum initiated by Negeri Rempah Foundation and organized in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The forum brings together academics, researchers, policymakers, maritime communities, cultural practitioners, artists, NGOs, students, and wider publics to discuss the historical and contemporary significance of the Spice Routes. IFSR promotes cross-cultural dialogue, knowledge exchange, and public engagement on the continuing relevance of the Spice Routes in Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and the wider world. The 2025 forum, for example, emphasized sustainability, heritage, and innovation as key pathways for addressing contemporary challenges.
