Jejak gerak mengungkapkan perjalanan panjang Tari Klasik Gaya Yogyakarta (TKGY), seni adiluhung yang berasal dari lingkungan istana Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat. Buku ini mengeksplorasi peluang dan tantangan dalam menjaga kelestarian seni tari di tengah perubahan zaman dan arus globalisasi. Melalui sudut pandang Sosiologi Seni dan Etnokoreologi, buku ini menjelaskan bagaimana kraton berperan sebagai pusat kebudayaan dan bagaimana lembaga pendidikan dan komunitas tari berkontribusi dalam melestarikan warisan budaya ini. Dalam enam bab, buku ini membahas tentang berbagai aspek yang mempengaruhi perkembangan TKGY, mulai dari sejarah, karakteristik, hingga proses pewarisan melalui lembaga formal dan non-formal. Keberhasilan TKGY tidak hanya bergantung pada hal-hal yang bersifat teknis, tetapi juga penanaman nilai-nilai estetika dan filosofis yang terkandung dalam setiap gerak tari. Di era modern TKGY menghadapi tantangan dari industri pariwisata dan seni kontemporer, namun usaha dari komunitas dan institusi tari tetap berfokus pada proses pelestarian TKGY. Dengan menggambarkan perjalanan TKGY dari Dalam hingga luar tembok istana, Jejak Gerak menjadi referensi penting dalam pengembangan wacana tari klasik di Yogyakarta, dan peran budaya dalam menjaga identitas bangsa di tengah arus global.
