Urgensi Pendekatan Social-Ecological System (SES) dalam Pengelolaan Ekosistem Lamun Indonesia

Tiga ekosistem penting di wilayah pesisir adalah ekosistem mangrove, lamun dan terumbu karang. Dari ketiga ekosistem pesisir itu, ekosistem lamun masih termarginalkan, padahal ekosistem lamun memberikan kontribusi signifikan melalui jasa ekosistemnya baik secara lokal, nasional dan global. Saat ini, ekosistem lamun mengalami ancaman, terutama dari aktivitas manusia. Berkurangnya luasan lamun akan mengurangi kemampuannya dalam menyediakan jasa ekosistem, sehingga pengelolaan ekosistem lamun menjadi agenda prioritas.
Orasi ilmiah ini membahas mengenai Social-ecological System (SES) sebagai cara pandang baru untuk pengelolaan sumber daya termasuk ekosistem lamun. Melalui sistem ini, integrasi aspek sosial dan ekologi dapat dianalisis secara menyeluruh. Pengelolaan ekosistem lamun berbasis pendekatan SES berpotensi menghasilkan ekosistem lamun yang terjaga dan berkelanjutan, dengan dampak positif yang meluas dari tingkat lokal hingga global. Oleh sebab itu, SES merupakan pendekatan yang tepat untuk pengelolaan ekosistem lamun di Indonesia.
