Synopsis

Ilmu fisika sangat kental dengan segala aspek kehidupan kita, disadari ataupun tidak. Termasuk salah satunya fenomena alam yang selalu menyertai kita yaitu iklim serta interaksinya, dan dinamika atmosfer dan laut di sekeliling kita. Buku ini membahas dengan sangat baik seluruh aspek ini dengan fokus ke dinamika di daerah tropis yang sangat relevan dengan tanah air kita. Buku pertama dalam bahasa Indonesia dan oleh penulis Indonesia dan peneliti Jepang yang melakukan penelitian di Indonesia selama 40 tahun lebih, di topik seperti ini akan sangat membantu generasi muda di bidang ini, termasuk mahasiswa yang berminat untuk melakukan kajian ilmiah terkait.

Author Biographies

Albertus Sulaiman, Pusat Riset Iklim dan atmosfer BRIN

Lahir di Purworejo 28 April 1970. Setelah lulus dari SMAN 1 Purworejo, ia melanjutkan pendidikan di ITB program studi Meteorologi pada 1994, kemudian melanjutkan S2 Fisika Teori di Universitas Indonesia pada 2005, dan S3 Fisika Teorik di ITB pada 2012. Minat penelitiannya pada dinamika atmosfer-laut, gelombang nonlinier terutama di daerah tropis serta metode Fisika Teoritis. Kegiatan lain adalah mengembangkan environmental modelling dengan MATLAB serta monitoring emisi karbon dan dinamika ekosistem gambut tropis. Saat ini, ia menjabat sebagai Kepala Pusat Riset Iklim dan Atmosfer, Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN), Indonesia. Hobinya adalah music heavy metal dan hard rock. Sulaiman menganggap dirinya sebagai ilmuwan amatir karena melakukan penelitian lebih sebagai bentuk ke­senangan pribadi.

Manabu D. Yamanaka, Kobe University

(18 Oktober 1955–19 September 2025), Lahir di Kochi, Japan, menyelesaikan Ph.D dalam ilmu atmosfer di Universitas Nagoya. Manabu D. Yamanaka adalah Professor Emeritus, Kobe University; Visiting Professor, Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN), Advisor, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Techno­logy (JAMSTEC). Prof. Yamanaka melakukan proyek penelitian teoretis, eksperimental, dan observasi dalam taraf internasional untuk ilmu atmosfer-hidrosfer, termasuk mata pelajaran interdisipliner dengan ilmu planet dan bio-antropogenik. Prof. Yamanaka telah melakukan penelitian cuaca dan iklim di Indonesia lebih dari 40 tahun.
